Pinpilinpauxa

20 x 20 inches Oil Mix Media.

Pinpilinpauxa—a word from Basque meaning butterfly—captures the essence of this layered mixed-media composition.

This  painting celebrates the symbiotic dance between flowers and butterflies. Delicate blooms burst with summer abundance while graceful butterflies sip their nectar, creating a scene of natural harmony.

The artist built this piece through deliberate layering: acrylic inks flow beneath alcohol inks, mark-making adds texture and movement, gold leaf introduces luminous accents, and carefully placed collage elements weave through the composition before oil glazes bring the final depth and dimension. A sophisticated celebration of nature's interconnectedness, rendered in rich mixed media.
