This abstract realism mixed-media oil piece celebrates the mystery and beauty of the dragonfly. Titled “Libélula”—the Spanish word for dragonfly—it honors the magic, translucency, and remarkable strength of these delicate creatures, capable of swift and graceful flight. The work was built in roughly ten layered stages, each contributing depth and dimension, with oils added to illuminate the transparency of the wings and the ethereal quality of the background. Through this layering, I sought to capture both the fragility and power inherent in the dragonfly, inviting viewers to pause and marvel at its fleeting, luminous presence.
